<p>My current project, THROUGH CHAGALL’S WINDOW, is set in the dark, difficult days of post-Soviet Moscow, where I lived and worked from 1992-1993 translating artists’ catalogs and critical essays. </p>

(I also studied art at a University in Soviet Moscow in 1989, and worked towards reorganization on several of the old collective farms in Ukraine in 1995. I have near fluency in the Russian language.)</p>

I currently have the luxury of being supported by my lit professor husband while writing full time. I have a small, well lit office space about a mile from home. In addition to the novel, I'm working on a collection of short stories about women of different ages, lifestyles, locations and temperaments, who are all struggling against the identities imposed on them from without and the compromises they've made within. </p>

My work has appeared in Pheobe, and I was a runner up in the Glimmer Train “New Writers Contest.†I have BA in Russian Language and Literature, an MA in Russian Area Studies, and an MFA in fiction from George Mason University, where I studied under Alan Cheuse and Dick Bausch.</p>
