Author Salon Connect - site news, progress notes on projects, as well as news on requests for partials and fulls. We want everyone to know someone is doing something right. Also, items of interest involving Author Salon in a variety of ways.
All new members post one topic here to inform the community who you are, where you're from, and what you hope to accomplish or learn here at Author Salon. What is your genre? What are your quirks and likes? Define your passion for your work. Be as open as you wish.
A place where Author Salon members can share just about anything including valuable information, the agent query process, craft technique, frustrations with writing, cathartic tales of sturm und drang, etc.. Tech and peer group issues must be addressed privately to admin and mods.
For all Author Salon members who feel that the wheels on their project are spinning. Is it a problem of plot or premise? An issue of genre? Whatever, address it here. Just know this forum is *not* for synopsis/pitch postings or profile reviews. And all peer issues should be addressed directly to your moderator.
A place for writers, AS mods and editors, to comment on the ongoing critique process at AS, sharing strategies, reviewing progress, plugging the holes, keeping everyone on the road. Topics of "peer shopping," honest vs. overly laudatory critique, workshop psychology, and more.
Where members of the MJP, writers and editors, come to discuss projects and need for edits and whatever else will assist with an Author Salon member becoming a published author. The identities of panel members must forever remain shrouded in mystery.
Author Salon assigns readings and required analysis related to the creation of commercially competitive fantasy novels, YA or adult. AS writers continue to use the forum as a reference source for studying effective opening hooks (the first 50 pages) and the wise use of narrative and fictional elements in those hooks.
AS I and II courses following the Six Act Two-Goal story model and providing craft practice, technique studies, readings and course work related to story market, premise, plot lining, the art of dramatic complication, character introduction and arc, narrative composition technique, scene sketching and creation, and more.
